This project was based on Ed's Shed by David Adjaye, a photographer's home in suburban London constructed using cross laminated timber. Based on simple plans and elevations, but primarily photos, I was able to create a digital structural model of the house. This included the main clt elements as well as the secondary wood framing of the non-loadbearing partition walls. Through this project, I was able to gain an appreciation and understanding of a new, interesting structural system that has only recently become possible due to technological advances in material capabilities.
The plans and a section given to us, along with a large collection of photos and a few other diagrams, to help describe the project.
A set on construction plans describing the main CLT construction as well as the secondary wood framing.
An exploded axon describing all the layers of construction as well as a set of details focusing on the relevant CLT joint techniques.
